Mesotherapy for Hair Loss

Using superficial microinjections just below the epidermis into the targeted tissues, Mesotherapy is a non-invasive technique.

Performed by Dr Cotrufo from our Harley Street Clinic, the mesotherapy solution injected can contain a wide range of minerals, vitamins, amino acids, nucleic acids and co-enzymes that can be tailored to each patient’s individual needs. The treatment is virtually painless and safe when done professionally.

Mesotherapy brings just the right materials to the exact place where it is needed (around the hair follicle) so that:

  • The hair follicle can grow and survive

  • The excess of DHT (dihydrotestosterone) is neutralised

  • The blood circulation is stimulated

Why choose Mesotherapy?

  • Improves blood circulation, reduces inflammation, neutralizes excess DHT, stimulates collagen and increases follicle size to stop hair loss and stimulate hair growth

  • There’s no lengthy recovery time and no need for any anaesthetic

  • To ensure none of your hair follicles are damaged, our specialist doctor will tailor his technique to your condition and administer Mesotherapy manually instead of an automated injection device

  • Chances of result with Mesotherapy are 90-92% as opposed to Minoxidil (Rogaine) only 50%

What can Mesotherapy achieve?

  • Improves blood circulation, reduces inflammation, neutralizes excess DHT, stimulates collagen and increases follicle size to stop hair loss and stimulate hair growth

  • Acetyl tetrapeptide-3 is used to stimulate remodelling of the tissue, and directly affects the hair follicle. Remodelling signals increase the size of the follicle which improve vitality and anchoring.

There are other surgical and non-surgical options like PRP that may be more appropriate to your circumstances. Dr Cotrufo will be able to talk you through these options and recommend the procedure(s) best suited to your goals.

Establishing which procedure is likely to be best for your specific needs, feeling confident and comfortable with your surgery journey is a process that requires good communication between you and your surgeon. This starts at your consultation, here you’ll have the opportunity to explain your personal circumstances and pose questions.

  • Have the opportunity to explain your reasons for seeking mesotherapy

  • Be given time to ask advice and pose questions to Dr Cotrufo

  • Undergo a health evaluation.

  • Have your hair and scalp condition assessed via the microscope

  • Discuss the hair loss treatment options that are open to you, including costs and timescales.

  • Talk through potential risks as well as benefits.

  • Learn about the procedure and what will happen before, during and after mesotherapy.

In the run-up to your mesotherapy treatment and in the days immediately prior, you may be asked to make lifestyle changes or to avoid particular medications and activities.

This may include:

  • Taking a blood test or other medical tests

  • Stopping smoking

  • Adjusting or taking certain medications

  • Avoiding aspirin, herbal supplements and anti-inflammatory drugs

  • Refraining from drinking alcohol

  • Avoiding overexposure to the sun

  • Committing not to make serious dietary changes

  • The healing process is induced through micro perforations made by a needle. The organism then produces collagen and elastin, two of the key building blocks of the skin, as a post traumatic response.

  • The injected active ingredients will stimulate the organism

  • A wide range of nutritious vitamins, amino acids and vasodilators, injections are administered directly into mesoderm of the scalp– the layer under the epidermis which serves as a link between the layer of fats and the tissues of the skin

  • This is done by hand with a sterile needle instead of a mesotherapy gun which ensures  maximum accuracy and gently injects the solution in the scalp avoiding damaging any follicles in the process

We recommend starting with an intensive course of treatments every 2 weeks for the first 2-3 months.

The frequency of treatments then gradually decreases and patients enjoy the benefits of rejuvenated hair in as quickly as two to three months. Maintenance treatments are generally required, and are typically scheduled once every two to three months.
