WHAT TO EXPECT BEFORE BBL PROCEDURE?

Feeling comfortable and relaxed during the surgery process is made easier when you have clear communication between you and your surgeon. This relationship will begin to be formed during your consultation where you’ll be able to discuss your individual circumstances with Dr Cotrufo.

DURING YOUR BBL CONSULTATION, YOU WILL:

• Learn about the care you will receive before, during and after surgery

• Undergo an assessment of your bottom, waist and hips

WHAT TO EXPECT BEFORE A BBL FAT INJECTION PROCEDURE:

As your surgery approaches you may be asked to make some small lifestyle changes and told to avoid particular activities and medications.

This may include:

• Taking medical tests including blood tests

• Stopping smoking

• Adjusting or taking certain medications

• Avoiding aspirin, herbal supplements and anti-inflammatory drugs

• Refraining from drinking alcohol

• Avoiding sun overexposure, particular to the face

• Committing not to make stringent changes to your diet

If a general anaesthetic is to be used during surgery, you will be given fasting instructions by the surgeon.

THE BRAZILIAN BUTTOCK LIFT PROCEDURE:

• A Brazilian buttock lift usually takes 3-4 hours to complete

• The surgery is likely to take longer when combined with other procedures

• Fat is taken from a determined site by liposuction and purified before being injected into the buttock

• This is generally done via incisions made strategically on the bottom or thigh

• These incisions are then closed with sutures

AFTER YOUR BBL PROCEDURE

You will need to stay in the clinic overnight before returning home to begin your buttock lift recovery.

After that:

• You should walk around as soon as you feel able

• If you have a fairly inactive job you should be able to return to work within 1-2 weeks, this may be slightly longer if your job is more active

• You will need to wear a compression bandage for 2 weeks

• You should avoid all strenuous exercise and activities including housework for up to 6 weeks and may need to refrain from exercise such as jogging and cycling for several weeks more

• Bruising and swelling should subside after around 2 weeks

• You will need to attend a series of aftercare appointments with your surgeon, Dr Cotrufo, who will also be available to discuss your post-procedure recovery by telephone
